Dementia is not a single disease, but a general term for diseases characterized by impairment of memory and similar mental abilities. While dementia is not a condition that necessarily develops in all aging individuals, disease-specific findings can emerge in all dementia-related diseases due to certain changes. Individuals with dementia often require long-term care and treatment in the advanced stages of the disease. The nursing care needed by the patient and their family is often provided in long-term care centers and hospitals. Today, especially in palliative care units, the symptoms experienced by individuals with dementia are effectively managed, and quality care is provided. In this case presentation, a patient diagnosed with dementia and treated in the palliative care unit of a state hospital was evaluated according to the Activities of Daily Living Model, and a nursing assessment was performed according to NANDA-I. Based on the assessment, care needs related to impaired tissue integrity, risk of falls, ineffective airway patency, impaired oral mucous membrane, impaired urinary emptying, and self-care deficit syndrome were determined, and appropriate nursing interventions were planned.
