Azerbaijani folk songs hold an important place in our folk song repertoire; they are beautiful and beloved works that have permeated the emotions and culture of the Turkish people. These folk songs are mostly in the nihavend and hicaz modes; while some are marching songs (2/4, 4/4), most are written in waltz-like rhythms (3/4, 6/8, and 12/8).
Azerbaijani folk songs are also extremely suitable for polyphonic music and piano performance in terms of their structure and the modes used. In this book, seven Azerbaijani folk songs with extremely rich melodic structures, composed of different modes and rhythms, are written in the keys of A, B, and D so that they can appeal to several voice groups. Furthermore, detailed harmonic and, where necessary, rhythmic explanations have been provided for each measure, beat, and rhythmic structure under the accompaniments written in the key of A.
We hope this book will be useful to all music students and music lovers who enjoy Azerbaijani folk songs and wish to accompany them on the piano...
