On February 6, 2023, we experienced an earthquake that caused widespread destruction and numerous casualties in 11 provinces, primarily Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Adıyaman, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Gaziantep. This earthquake, recognized as the “Disaster of the Century,” affected the entire country. We aimed to organize the “Earthquake Stories” event to give voice to the aftermath of this earthquake and to make a note in history. Drawing on the experience of collecting, evaluating, and publishing stories in a competition format, as has been done in İnönü University's “Disease Stories” events since 2012, we sought to achieve this goal. At the beginning of the book, there is a section titled “A Word from the Selection Committee Members” where 13 selection committee members express their views on some negative reactions to the event. A total of 70 stories were submitted to the event, which began on November 14, 2023, and ended on February 4, 2024. Stories were submitted from 31 different provinces, mostly from Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Thirty-three participants were women and 37 were men. The youngest participant was 15 and the oldest was 74. Most participants were teachers, students, and writers.
