It is well known that translating medieval Persian poetry into foreign languages ​​presents significant difficulties. The complexity of the translation stems from the inherently philosophical and mystical nature of Persian poetry from this period. This affects not only the correct understanding of specific philosophical linguistic symbols but also their consistency with meditative forms of presentation. This article addresses the problem of translating Sufi poetry into Russian using the example of a poem by the medieval Persian poet Saadi Shirazi. The original poem is the beginning of the third section of the poem "Bustan," which describes the mystical path of love leading to Unity. A characteristic of the poetic text under consideration is the saturation of the language with Sufi philosophy, which objectively causes problems when translated into a foreign language. The texts of K. Chaikin and V. Derzhavin were used as translation material. The chosen method for analyzing the Persian original with two Russian translations makes it possible to identify similarities and differences in the perception of the original and its Russian translations.
