Psychiatric problems are increasingly common in society and have become one of the disease groups frequently encountered by primary care physicians today. Child and adolescent mental health and disorders deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up processes of psychiatric disorders resulting in impairment in emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioral areas in infants, children, and adolescents. This field is a biological science in terms of examining genetic, physiological, biochemical, neuroendocrine structures, and developmental characteristics; it is also a social science in terms of researching interpersonal communication, interaction, familial, and environmental factors. Furthermore, it can be considered an educational and behavioral science in terms of evaluating and shaping the behaviors of infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
This book is a textbook prepared for medical school students and contains information that our primary care physicians can benefit from in clinical practice after graduation. We are pleased to present this textbook, whose topics and content have been carefully prepared, to our students.
