Institutional history studies have emerged as a new field of interest for historians in Turkey in recent years, with a noticeable increase in interest in this area since the early 2000s. These studies contribute to the promotion of the institution in question while also demonstrating the progress it has made since its establishment, thereby enabling the concrete manifestation of institutional development. When the institution in question is an educational institution and a university, it is clear that it will contribute to the recognition of the institution by its graduates, current students, employees, and all stakeholders, and to the adoption of a common institutional culture, as well as having a unifying effect that increases the sense of belonging. This study, which will detail the establishment and development of Inönü University, will undoubtedly have the aforementioned effects.

This study also makes significant contributions to the institutional memory of our university and serves as a bridge between the past and present of Inönü University.
